This rapid review of early childhood development (ECD) service provision interventions examines contexts where suites of ECD service provision interventions have been delivered at scale in resource-poor environments. Research shows that access to quality ECD provisioning in the early years of a child’s life is critical for their development. South Africa has therefore prioritised the need for interventions that ensure the healthy development of children during these early stages of their lives. Implementation is, however, challenging, especially as ECD delivery is not the domain of a single government department. Successful interventions require the input of multiple stakeholders, from within and outside of government, to offer a package of essential services, including appropriate early childhood stimulation.
