Conceptualising Climate change Mitigation and Adaptation: A Review of Conceptual Challenges and the Prospects of a New Understanding Conceptualising Climate change Mitigation and Adaptation: A Review of Conceptual Challenges and the Prospects of a New Understanding

This paper addresses some fundamental concerns in relation to current approaches to climate change mitigation and adaption. It examines the conceptual ambiguity that muddles the terrain of climate change mitigation and adaptation and highlights their implications for climate-related projects in general and for the poor and vulnerable communities in particular. To further highlight these challenges, it draws from the eThekwini Municipality in South Africa, an example of a local action in addressing climate change.
