The overall aim of the this research project is to provide empirical evidence on the potential of local food systems to contribute to sustainable rural development by investigating six sustainability components (economic, environmental, socio-cultural, quality, governance, and health and nutrition, adapted from Sustainable Development Commission, 2011) with emphasis on short food supply chains from producer to consumer.
